  • Moving Forward with Arts Integration

    Sandy Reiburg

Do you remember how you learned the alphabet? With a song. You learned to crawl and walk before you learned to talk. You drew circles and squares in order to be able to print your name. The importance of creative movement, music, art, and dramatization in facilitating learning grows as we move through our formal education. Sandy will lead educators in exploring how to weave the arts into a broad variety of lessons for all levels and subjects. Workshops vary in length and will be tailored to each audience’s needs.

  • The Magical Art of Printmaking

    Robin McBride Scott

    Media

Printmaking surrounds us and is an integral part of our society today.  We depend on printed text, advertising and art as a primary source for information and entertainment.   Students will create their own relief printing plates, ink them up and produce a print.  Once a relief plate is made multiple prints can be made from the same plate, unlike other art forms.  As a fine art form, printmaking continues to be recognized around the world for its method, diversity, and beauty.

    21st Century Skills Language Arts

Teaching young people to share, accept differences, and work together peacefully, this interactive program starts with a story of a tiny blue house full of very colorful characters. Students will play with shapes and forms from recycled materials, learn how to fold, bend, score, and attach them to build their own “homes full of friends,” where everyone has a place to stay and a story to tell. Hand-eye coordination, spatial perception, independent decision making, and visual storytelling are important goals of the workshop, but, most importantly, it will be fun!
