Arts for Learning Celebrates Week of the Young Child
Indianapolis – April 4, 2014 … Arts for Learning, the Indiana Affiliate of Young Audiences, is working with Day Nursery and Head Start centers to provide reading programs for 34 early childhood classrooms. Staff and board members are volunteering their time to visit the sites throughout the week of April 7th. They will each read a short book to three classrooms at one of the selected 5 locations.
“We deeply value our partnership with early childhood educators and believe that the first years of a child’s education are crucial to their long-term success. We are happy to volunteer our time in celebration of Week of the Young Child,” states JoEllen Florio Rossebo, President & CEO of Arts for Learning.
As the oldest and largest provider of professional arts education programs in the state, Arts for Learning Indiana works with more than 65 teaching artists and arts organizations to provide performances, workshops and residencies to schools, libraries, parks and community centers. Arts for Learning Indiana is part of a national network of 30 affiliates reaching 5 million children in over 6,000 schools and community centers with 85,000 performance demonstrations, workshops, and teacher services.
