About the artist

Liz Monnier is a modern dancer and instructor based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She has practiced dance for 40 years, and has taught with Arts for Learning for approximately 12 years. A graduate of Indiana University, Liz has continued her studies throughout her life with other artists—currently, she’s a student of the Feldenkrais Method. When working with students, Liz combines the art of storytelling with dance to create powerful interactive learning experiences for children. “I like to make up story-dances,” Liz says. “I take a story already written,  or better yet, I write my own and create movements to bring it to life.” As the Artistic Director of the Fort Wayne Dance Collective, Liz produces numerous performances, teaches classes, choreographs and performs. But, she says, no experience is quite as thrilling as teaching students the beauty and power of dance. “Anything in the world can be learned through the body and its movement capabilities,” she says. “Through movement and dance, a person really does become more whole and aware of who they really are.” Learn more about Liz and her at the Fort Wayne Dance Collective website.
