Once Upon a Time: ‘STEAM-ing’ New Fairy Tales


This arts integration reader’s theater program teaches the content of environmental science and conservation in a fun and accessible way while exploring the basics of theater skill and story elements. While performing a script – adapted fairy tale that portrays the tortoise and the hare racing through polluted habitats or the three pigs dealing with effects of environmental degradation, students learn the vocabulary and processes for environmental science concepts like decomposition, recycling, biodegrading, composting, and more.

Creating Courage


This performance will show students that even when they are afraid, there are ways that they can find courage. The actor will face his fear of storms using simple Shakespearean text and the power of language. Students will participate from their seats to create storm sounds.

Speak the Speech


With the help of a professional actor, students will build confidence in reading aloud using small, manageable Shakespearean texts. Students will also try their hand at “performing” the text, using different acting techniques to give the words deeper meaning.

Once Upon a Time: Staging new Fairy Tales


What if the Tortoise & the Hare had to jump over trash piles and wade through polluted water?  When Pinocchio grows up and wants a boy of his own, what if there’s no more forests and no more wood? And with no wood, how will the 3 Pigs rebuild?  In this residency, students will explore Fairy Tale characters of yesterday as they encounter the environmental issues of today.

This highly interactive workshop gives students a real-life look at what to do with bullies in school. Two actors will teach theater techniques as students learn what to do and say when tension and conflict arise during bullying behaviors.

Bullying: A Play on Conflict Resolution


Students will explore their own experiences, attitudes, and prejudices about school bullying in a way that is comfortable yet insightful.
