About the artist

tharp

Carol Tharp-Perrin and Larry Gindhart specialize in performance art, and interdisciplinary experience in which students are deeply involved in the composition process. Carol is a visual artist, dancer, and yoga practitioner.  Larry Gindhart is a percussionist and a photographer who specializes in interdisciplinary education. Lawrence Clark, III is a percussionist who was recently inducted into the Indianapolis Jazz Hall of Fame.

People, Paint, and Percussion

Performance

In this participatory performance, the rhythms of percussive music interact with the visuals of paint and dance as students join artists to create a performance painting. This program can stand alone or as a celebratory culmination to one of the composition workshops by Tharp-Perrin Gindhart Artists.

International Geographic Tour

Residency

Students will experience an interdisciplinary, multi-media residency about the various cultures, customs, people, and geography of the world. Collaboratively, students will create painted banners of the continents.

Music, Movement, & Storytelling

Workshop

Storytelling comes to life with creative body poses relating to nature and animals accented by live music. Students will form whole-body movements based on characters of a story and explore various musical instruments to go with their movements.
