About the artist
A self-employed ceramicist and ceramics instructor since 1973, Tim Ryan maintains his studio at home. He has extensive kiln building experience, including the design and construction of four high fire kilns. Tim has spent six years teaching an Indianapolis Art Center ceramics class for students of varying ages from the Indiana School for the Blind. In addition, he has three years experience teaching youth ceramics classes and twelve years teaching adult classes independently and at the Art Center. He has a B.A. from Seton Hall University, NJ and apprenticed for three years as a production potter before establishing his own instruction and art studio in California, prior to relocating to Indianapolis in 1987.
Animal Herd: Create a Menagerie with Clay Sculpture
Students will learn the basic elements of clay work: pinch pot, slab, coil, slip and score. Students will design their own creatures, real or imagined. Themes include elephants, dinosaurs, or anything that connects with your curriculum. Teachers are responsible for firing sculptures.
