Usha Sirimalle

About the artist

Usha Sirimalle started dancing at the age of three in her home town in India.  She continued her dance training in various styles of Indian dancing and choreographing when she was in India. She moved to Wichita, Kansas to pursue her Master’s Degree. While she was in the university she was part of the International Cultural Society choreographing and performing for the University Events. In 2004 she moved to Lafayette, Indiana and began teaching. She enjoys choreographing for kids and adults and performing for various events around Indianapolis.

Bollywood Dance and Culture

Workshop

Bollywood is a fusion of traditional and classical Indian dances with the influence of some jazz, hip-hop and modern dance. It is a creative mixture of technique, energy and emotion but most of all massive fun. Students will learn poses, grace, hand and foot movements and expression, all integral parts of Bollywood dance. The meanings of the songs are explored, and students will be able to ‘dance and act’ them out.
