Lifelong Exposure to the Arts

By: Julie Harris, Grants & Stewardship Manager

A study done by the National Endowment for the Arts has shown that lifelong exposure to the arts throughout childhood results in higher academic performances, better career opportunities, and higher rates of civic engagement.

Arts for Learning provides a variety of programming designed to encourage educational growth and engagement for children of all ages. Many of our programs can be adapted appropriated for multiple age groups; however, we have several programs that focus specifically on early childhood education and development, including Welcome to Learning and Young-at-Arts. These programs address school readiness and engagement with pre-literacy concepts through school based in-depth artist residencies.

Check out this awesome infographic from ABC Daycare in Albuquerque, New Mexico that spells out exactly how important your child’s early education is in their overall development!

Please come join us in a celebration of early childhood and arts education through Leap into Art. In partnership with Day Nursery, Leap provides the opportunity for our adult guests to “become a kid again” with interactive arts workshops and live performances from Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra. Arts for Learning teaching artists will present mini-workshops for hands-on fun including dance, drums, storytelling, and one-of-a-kind art. Guests are invited to explore their inner preschooler while enjoying theme-rated hors d’oeuvres, Barefoot wine, Sun King craft beer, and a silent auction.
