Students will experience an interdisciplinary learning process combining rhythm and painting to create painted banners of the continents. Workshops include an introduction to each continent through its rhythms as the means to understand its history, customs, culture and geography. Students are then engaged in playing these rhythms as other students paint the continent to the rhythms with the guidance of the artists. The result is five colorful painted banners (3ft by 5ft each) that may be hung together or separately, representing the continents of the world.
