Arts for Healing
Healers have found that art and music, combined with traditional medicine have profound healing effects. Doctors, nurses, and therapists are now working with artists and musicians to heal people of all ages with many conditions.
In 2013, Arts for Learning launched its “Arts for Healing” initiative, bringing live performances to the hallways of Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children. The ultimate goal of this program is to make the arts a regular experience at the hospital for its patients, their caretakers, and the hospitals’ medical staff.
If you are in the health care industry, we welcome your partnership in bringing Arts for Healing to your facility. Please contact us to learn more about Arts for Healing.
The arts play a vital role in the health and wellbeing of young people. Arts for Learning’s “Inside Arts” program brings quality arts in education programming to several Indiana juvenile detention centers to encourage creativity, communication, and teamwork.
Several of our teaching artists have extensive experience in working with at-risk youth and are willing partners in your effort to provide meaningful intervention. Contact the Program Director of your region to find out more about possibilities with this initiative.
Collaboration of the Generations
Collaboration of the Generations (CoG) brings children and elders together through the natural medium of storytelling. Both groups work with a storyteller, and then gather to exchange stories. In a suggested culminating event, students tell the elders’ stories back to the audience. A planning meeting with a Program Director is recommended to begin the program.
We’re always interested in speaking with potential program sponsors. Click here to contact Jennifer Collins, Director of Development, to learn more about these community initiatives.
