Friends of Arts for Learning,
Thank you for supporting Arts for Learning’s “Inside Arts” campaign on Giving Tuesday. With your help, we will be able to provide arts programming to students at four Indiana juvenile detention centers. We also want to thank Ernst & Young for matching all gifts made by individual donors. Together, we raised $2,740 for these students!
Arts for Learning is committed to providing arts programs for students of all backgrounds. Since 1998, our “Inside Arts” initiative has proudly sent professional teaching artists to work with students at Indiana juvenile detention centers. Donald Cook, educator at Hamilton County Juvenile Services Center, recalls a time when his student participated in Arts for Learning programming: “[The artist] displayed a remarkable gift for having students visualize a situation, then express that vision through poetry. The kids were captivated by her stories, told in poetic verse, and thoroughly enjoyed her guiding them through the creative poetry writing process. These presentations brought a depth to our classroom curriculum that could never have otherwise been replicated. In each case, the students were focused and involved, thereby learning new experiences.”
We thank you for your dedication to supporting these students and encourage you to continue following our efforts with the introduction of our new crime prevention initiative, “Fresh stART Indy,” to be announced soon.
