Arts for Learning is looking for students like YOU to join ArtForce this summer!NoExit

Are you interested in pursuing a career in the arts? Would you like to spend your summer creating a portfolio, expanding your resume, experimenting with art techniques, and learning from arts professionals and community advocates? Apply today to join ArtForce 2018!

ArtForce, a three-week program, invites participants to explore artistic activism as a potential collegiate and career path as they shadow professional teaching artists.

Wait, what is artistic activism?

Artistic Activism is “the practice of combining the creative power of the arts to invoke us emotionally with the strategic planning of activism necessary to bring about social change” – The Center for Artistic Activism

What else should I know?

As a group, you will explore various techniques in visual arts or theatre/performing arts with the professional teaching artists of Arts for Learning and higher education faculty Participants will also learn about important topics related to artistic activism and entrepreneurship.

The most important part – and the reason for the program – is the ArtForce mentorship program. Participants will be guided by Arts for Learning master teaching artists as they learn how art can speak to their community’s needs. On the final day, participants will exhibit their work in a showcase event open to family and friends.

Select students may be involved to participate in a year-long apprenticeship working closely with a professional artist.
