NOT “JOHNNY” IF YOU PLEASE (Grade levels 1-6)
John Chapman did his most important work in the Ohio Valley. In this interactive play, seventy-year-old Johnny Appleseed shares some tall tale adventures concerning his travels throughout the Midwest. This is storytelling in theatrical form, legend and fact becoming one. John Chapman was a non-violent man in a violent time and as such, deserves your attention today.
A second version of this program is designed for 1-3rd grade and explains the importance of the apple in the settling of the Midwest. Hank also discusses how he created the character and how it is sometimes difficult to separate man from myth.
This program meets standards in Indiana History, Social Studies, U.S. History & Culture.
