Arts for Learning Indiana Open House

June 27 | 11 AM – 3 PM

Experience how learning through the arts transforms students, schools, and communities—all brought to life in one dynamic celebration! Our family-friendly Open House presented by Glick Philanthropies is designed to inspire and unite Hoosiers through the power of the arts.

We’re opening the doors at our brand-new home in the East 10th Street Arts Corridor and closing down the block for a celebration of creativity, connection, and transformation! You won’t want to miss it!

What to Expect:

🖼️ Building-Wide Art Exhibitions

This art exhibition will span our entire building, showcasing artwork by current students, alumni, and Teaching Artists. Participants will even be able to access our neighboring space and partner, 1000 Words Gallery

🎤 Vibrant Live Performances

Hear live performances on an outdoor stage from Teaching Artists Cathy Morris, Village of Stories, and Squirrel Butter. Emcee for the Garden Performance Area is Arts For Learning Indiana board member Leonard Patterson, founder & frontman of Living Proof. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets.

🖌️ Public Mural Experiences 

We’ll have THREE collaborative community mural experiences led by Teaching Artists Matt DeLoughery and Jingo de la Rosa and our Community Partner, John Boner Neighborhood Centers.

🎨 Hands-On Art-Making

Explore your creativity in our hands-on artmaking and music stations led by Teaching Artists Beatriz VasquezOmar Rashan, and Theon Lee. Designed for all ages, participants can make their own notebook covers, shadow puppets, and contribute their artistic flair to sidewalk chalk art.

🏆 Kate Appel Celebration Prize

Named in honor of the visionary Arts for Learning Indiana board member, guests will be invited to sign up for the chance to win a creative gift of art activities and supplies to spark imagination at home, and to nominate a school to receive a voucher for a free Arts for Learning Indiana performance.

Community Connection 

Enjoy our community hospitality zone featuring food trucks, live chats with our program participants, a photo booth selfie zone, installation of the inaugural “Arts for Learning Indiana Art Supplies Box,” and more!

🚧 Block Party! 

East 10th Street will be closed to vehicular traffic in front of Arts for Learning Indiana headquarters during the open house, enabling activities to expand to both the north and south sides of 10th Street. Free parking will be available at IPS’ Brookside School, 3150 East 10th Street, or curbside throughout the area.
