Students from University High School Organize Virtual Benefit Concert to Support Arts for Learning

University High School students held their third annual UChella fundraiser on Sunday, July 26 raising over $3,000 for Arts for Learning Indiana. UChella is a student organized music festival that gives University High School students a platform for musical and visual artistic expression. Typically held in May, the event was cancelled due to school closures. Determined to find a safe way to host UChella, University High School Students Keegan and Hayden moved forward with organizing a virtual benefit concert.

“For the past 3 years, UChella has been such a wonderful event for our organization and has helped support our mission of empowering youth through arts-integrated education” said Arts for Learning President & CEO JoEllen Florio Rossebo. “Thanks to the leadership of Keegan, Hayden, and all of the University High School students who exemplify talent, hard work, and dedication.“

UChella was held at the Vogue Theatre and presented virtually by live concert streaming platform Mandolin. The concert featured performances by four student musical groups and was sponsored by Fundaes, First Person Advisors, Hedges, and The Arts Council of Indianapolis. The students exceeded their fundraising goal of $2,500 raising over $3,000 from 68 donors.

Since 1961, Arts for Learning Indiana has been empowering children to achieve their creative and intellectual potential through arts-integrated education. Arts for Learning employs more than 70 teaching artists who provide performances, workshops, and residencies to schools, libraries, parks and community organizations to reach nearly 40,000 Indiana children every year.

University High School of Indiana is an independent college preparatory school located in Carmel, Indiana. Founded in 2000, the school provides an educational and empowering environment for its more than 300 students that promotes faculty/student mentoring; a small, core-values-driven community; four-year, student-focused college counseling; and personalized education.
