Arts for Learning to hold Summer Workshops and Performance at McCormick’s Creek State Park
Indianapolis – April 24, 2017… Arts for Learning will present “Indiana’s Living Folklife Traditions,” a series of summer workshops with a culminating performance at McCormick’s Creek State Park. Made possible with support by the Indiana Arts Commission and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the workshops are scheduled for May 13th, June 10th, and July 8th. Teaching artists Tamara Loewenthal and Jamie Gans, who together form Fiddle ‘n’ Feet, will focus on American clogging and old-time music, in connection with the history of McCormick’s Creek State Park. All of the workshops begin at 2:00pm and will be held in the park’s Nature Center. A community dance celebration, with the Foot Squad and Fiddle River String Band, will be held at the McCormick’s Creek State Park Amphitheater on August 26th at 6:00pm. Neither the workshops nor the culminating performance require prior dance experience.
